Developed in 1929\/30, the piece was supposed to debut at a Bauhaus event but, for various reasons, remained unperformed for almost a century. It wasn\u2019t until 2025 when the research project \u201cBauhaus Music\u201d, initiated by the Bauhaus-Archiv \/ Museum f\u00fcr Gestaltung, presented the world premiere of a reconstructed version at the Musikfest Berlin in the Berliner Philharmonie. Modern, poignant and richly multifaceted, Blitzstein\u2019s opera tells a tragic love story in the realm of geometric forms that evokes the artistic visions of the Bauhaus stage.
